The Painting
Umbrella Girl is a Pop Art painting by Juan Mira. Artistically, the brush strokes are applied and the colors harmonize in Pop Art style. Juan Mira has transformed Umbrella Man from a cosmic man into a cosmic girl. She holds an umbrella that geometrically reflects the shape of her dress. The umbrella is not round and smooth and shaped like “The Blade” which traditionally has symbolized manhood. She is accomplishing the same task as the man in famous pop art umbrella paintings, but still maintaining her feminine physique. Her legs give a hint of sex appeal and her stylish large brimmed Fedora hat demonstrates her confidence. The feather represents her freedom to do and be whatever she wants.

Hand Painted and Signed by the Artist
Umbrella Girl is a mixed media work combining extensive hand painted acrylic on a color canvas giclee. Mixed media is a common method used by many contemporary artists, plus since there are no two alike, the art world considers them to be an original “one of a kind” work of art. It is hand signed by the artist. Painted with premium light fast paint on cotton canvas and protected by UV resistant varnish.
