Saying Goodbye to an Old Friend e1731335848443 | MacDonald GalleryBig Fuchsia Daisey by Robert MacDonald

When I was young I could never imagine selling a painting. After I finished a painting I became so close to it I couldn’t sell it (not that I got many offers). As I got older I thought maybe I would just sell prints. That way I could still keep the painting. I matured as an artist and started paintings that I would sell only – they were easier to part with. Recently, I thought I should also list some of my older paintings for sale.

I had this painting hanging up in my room for over 20 years. I listed it to see what would happen? Nothing for a while. Then I got an offer I couldn’t refuse. It was one of the older paintings I ever parted with and was a touch emotional. But when I thought about it living on and hopefully bringing joy to someone else, it made me happy. I took a couple last pics of it and packed it up for shipping. Goodbye old friend!
