Four Red Roses In The Galaxy by Artist Robert MacDonald | MacDonald Gallery

When I started this painting I was going to have four roses in the moonlight. Then I got to thinking that “moonlight” is really “reflected sunlight”. That gave me the idea not to do the obvious and instead have the roses lit by the sun as is the moon. This was enough inspiration to make reality into a somewhat surreal vision. To match the character of the sun, I made the roses a little “plump”.
