Description
Original Abstract painting on canvas panel, 24 × 18 in, acrylic with heavy impasto, palette-knife movement, and directional color bursts, framed in a handmade black MacDonald Signature Collection™ floater frame. Expansive energy and layered texture create a vivid, expressive presence.
Blue and Yellow Starbursts — Original Painting by Robert MacDonald
Blue and Yellow Starbursts developed through forceful, intuitive gesture—radiating strokes, knife-driven ridges, splatter, and weighted chromatic movement with a warm yellow burst expanding from the left, a cooler blue eruption rising on the right, and a violet-grey atmosphere holding their contrasting forces.
The surface is built with heavy impasto, forming sculptural peaks and directional ridges that catch raking light and intensify the dynamic push–pull across the composition. Layered color strata offer bold graphic presence from a distance and rich physical detail up close.
Created on a rigid canvas panel, the work is sealed and finished with a removable UV-protective varnish to preserve clarity, texture, and long-term archival integrity.
This painting is catalogued with full provenance and includes a Hahnemühle Certificate of Authenticity with matching holograms. The MacDonald Signature Collection™ floater frame features a black satin finish with a clean shadow-line reveal that elevates the artwork without distraction.
