About the Artwork<\/h3>\n

Mira draws on Peter Max’s New Moon<\/em>, which features an umbrella-sheltered figure beneath a large moon rising over the horizon. He reworks that solitary subject through his own Umbrella family, placing two figures together and shifting the emotional center of the scene from solitude to companionship.<\/p>\n

The golden orb rises above reflective water, with its light moving through deep blues, reds, and greens. The composition follows the broad structure of Max’s original while becoming a distinct Mira interpretation through the paired figures and altered emotional tone.<\/p>\n

What you are adding to your collection is a signed, framed, and individually registered MacDonald Gallery Collector Edition print of Juan Mira’s original painting. The Artist<\/h3>\n

Juan Mira’s<\/strong> style traces back to a childhood surrounded by Peter Max’s imagery, an influence that has remained with him throughout his career. He often works with themes associated with Max, including umbrella figures, sunsets, hearts, and flags, then develops them through his own compositions and characters.<\/p>\n

Mira also introduces touches of realism alongside bold Pop Art color, and in some paintings creates a trompe-l’\u0153il frame directly on the canvas for a faux-framed effect. Over time, this has grown into a distinct catalog of original Mira characters and compositions, created in the spirit of the tradition Peter Max helped define.<\/p>\n
